Vreden, near the Dutch border, has been the home of the Niessing manufactory since 1873. Vreden is also home to Europe's northernmost flamingo colony living in the wild at the “Zwillbrocker Venn” nature reserve.
Niessing is committed to working with the “Stiftung Natur und Landschaft Westmünsterland“ (Westmünsterland Nature and Landscape Foundation) to protect the local flamingo colony and – very importantly – to preserve the habitat of this beautiful species of bird, and it is also proud of being the bird RINGing partner of the annual brood.
