DESIGN Fascination

The creative soul of Niessing

Niessing has left its mark on the modern world of jewelry like no other brand. Unconventional thinking, new ideas, appreciating traditions and having the courage to explore new territory are integral parts of our identity.

DESIGN Fascination

Leaving the beaten path

It all starts with a curiosity and fantasy that makes thinking the unthinkable possible. What follows is a process involving systematic method, intense experimentation as well as playful trial and error.

DESIGN Fascination

The heart meets the mind

Which of the two first makes itself known is not necessarily important, and they are not necessarily found in equal measure. Yet there is always the guidance of objective rationality and a heart filled with passion.

"The design team observes the Bauhaus principle. The drafts should be relevant regarding innovation, design, technology and the very essence of a phenomenon. A classic example is the floating element of the tension ring. Each draft is examined for its long-term validity. As a result, the ongoing development of drafts is often a very long process over the course of decades."

DESIGN Fascination

Tradition of innovation

Those who wish to create something new require creativity, a wealth of specialty knowledge – as well as the courage to be inspired by traditions.

DESIGN Fascination

Craftsmanship inspires design

Niessing goldsmiths have been working in the manufactory in the Muenster region since 1873, and their knowledge has been passed from generation to generation. The close cooperation of designers and craftsmen played a decisive role in this process.

DESIGN Fascination

Emotional ideas – a creative and passionate heart

At the beginning, they primarily forged wedding rings, then later increasingly made other types of jewelry. In the 1970s, the Niessing owner of the time, Ursula Exner, laid the foundation for the Niessing design philosophy.

DESIGN Fascination

A start based on conviction

Women love jewelry – yet only a few have the chance to influence the jewelry design of their era. Ursula Exner is among these few: the modern, esthetically clear Niessing design would be unthinkable without this creative and passionate woman.

DESIGN Fascination

Form follows Function

From the past until the present day, what has been formative for all of the Niessing designers is the Bauhaus school of Weimar. It is considered the most important, influential school of architecture, design and art in the 20th century. The Bauhaus principle of »form follows function« is also the principle of Niessing. Each piece of Niessing jewelry is based on an idea.

DESIGN Fascination

Ingenious ideas are simple.

Niessing jewelry is pure form, reduced to the essential.

DESIGN Fascination

Design is formative storytelling

Design is more than form. It expresses emotions, approaches people openly, inspires dreams and contemplation, and it tells a story. Find your personal Niessing story.
