Its calm creates focus, its reduction creates expression, its construction creates lightness. The coil is a symbol of the interplay between idea, technology and goldsmith craftsmanship: a precise line of gold or platinum that makes the essential visible.

To mark the anniversary of the Niessing Coil, Niessing carries the line forward. Not by looking back, but from the present. The Coil Wave stands for rhythm, evolution, and the consistency of not varying a clear idea, but continuing it.

When worn at short length, the Niessing Coil rests around the neck as a calm, clear line. It follows the organic form of the body and allows pendants to appear free – without a loop, without visible construction. In a longer version worn doubled, the Niessing Coil opens up a relaxed and modern way of wearing jewelry. It allows playful variations and new proportions: a fine pendant rests close to the neck, while a second, larger pendant is worn lower.

From the very beginning, the Niessing Coil was conceived as a carrier system. With the collections Colette, Colette C and Colette Elementyx, new forms of expression emerge: floating pendants, modular elements, precisely set diamonds, combinable forms. A system that grows with every idea.

Expertise and motion

1.5 kilograms of precious metal, three experienced goldsmiths, and a whole day of work add up to 3,000 meters of gold or platinum wire for the Niessing Coil. Does that seem a simple equation? Well, it’s not!

Traditionally handmade

Our goldsmiths master the ancient craft of wire drawing to perfection. Again and again, they pull the wire of gold or platinum through special drawing dies and anneal it many times exactly at the right moment. The wire has to have a perfectly round profile for the perfect fit and form of the Niessing Coil.

A glow from within...

When the wires have been manufactured, they are very precisely wound around a transparent core of nylon. This core intensifies the glow of the coils from within. Each Niessing Coil is finished with a hand-polished clasp, which is easy to use and very secure.
